Wearing – Karen Walker top, Gorman jeans, The Horse shoes, Fjallraven Mini Kanken backpack
This was one of those outfits that I “put together” in my head whilst packing my bags for Melbourne. I’m one of those people who just can’t achieve anything unless there’s an element of stress involved. Which means I lie around the bedroom, bemoaning my lack of clothing choices for hours on end, procrastinating by trying on completely bizarre and impractical outfits, only to then madly throw random pieces of clothing at my open suitcase because I’m about to miss the plane.
Let me know what you think, but did I go a bit “cray cray” with this outfit? I was sitting having breakfast in Drugstore Espresso on Toorak Rd when I realised that I looked a tad like a little pink and yellow confection.
Anyhoos, here it is. I am never one to shrink from wearing colour, but was this a bit OTT?

Wearing – Karen Walker top, American Apparel skirt, Kate Spade heels (these are cute), Mno.logie clutch, Angle Dot Diamond earrings, Alister Yiap hexagon ring
I’m not really one to wear miniskirts but I completely fell for this gorgeous twirly number by American Apparel, so much so that I also got it in black! Poufy enough to look playful rather than skanky, a look I generally avoid. And the lilac colour goes surprisingly well against all those bright neon colours that are sweeping through stores this summer! Now this Karen Walker top arrived (oh how I love KW, have you noticed yet? She’s like my girlfriend) Â and I instantly realised I was waaaaay too short for it (story of my life). Well, a quick roll up of the sleeves and nipping in of the waist – et voila!
How are you guys stylishly surviving the searing Perth heat?Â

Wearing – Karen Walker boat pant and sunglasses (in black), Gorman top, Funkis clogs, Freckle & co necklace, Naomi Murrell white resin and rose gold ring, Alister Yiap hexagon ring and bangle, vintage handbag
As awesome as these sunnies are, I sadly don’t get to wear them all that often! I suppose they are a little OTT for work, and since I work 71.4% of the week that only leaves me 28.6% of my week left to flaunt them! I finished work a tad bit early last Wednesday arvo and was clearly a bit bored whilst waiting for Jinn to get home, hence the raiding of the wardrobe which led to this outfit post. We only ended up moseying down the road to grab burgers but hey…a girl’s gotta have a bit of fun sometimes, no?

Wearing – Karen Walker t-shirt (on sale at Anthropologie!), ASOS overalls, Madewell sunglasses, Fossil bangle (similar), Donelli shoes (similar)
What he’s wearing – Urban Outfitters jumper and jeans
Our first destination in France was the incredibly picturesque and tiny little village, Pointe Saint-Mathieu, perched right atop part of the spectacular coastline of Brittany. It gets its name from an old abbey in the centre of the village (sixth century according to legend) which was said to have housed the skull of the apostle Matthew until it was lost in the ocean off the point. After the icy cold of Glasgow it was nice to get out into some sunshine. Look! No coat!

Wearing – Karen Walker t-shirt, Urban Outfitters jeans (a personalised pair!), Steve Madden loafers, Urban Outfitters cap, Thomas Sabo earrings, Kanken Mini backpack
When I arrived back in Perth over Easter, lo and behold there were a couple of little packages awaiting for me to unwrap thanks to my ever thoughtful Jinn. And somehow they were also amazingly colour-coordinated! After hearing how I’d sunburnt my scalp during a fishing trip he went and picked out this crazy cool, Fresh Prince inspired cap from Urban Outfitters. I then opened the parcel that contained my long-awaited pink Kanken Mini to find that they were instant fashion-BFFs.
They instantly jazzed up my super comfy plane outfit that consisted of my latest favourite Karen Walker tee and ever present coloured skinny jeans. I don’t know about you but no matter how long or short a flight, IÂ must travel in extreme comfort – no waist bands that cut in or itchy materials for me! Stretchy cotton all the way!

Wearing – Cameo t-shirt, Neuw jeans (similar), ASOS belt, Country Road wedges, Karen Walker Eyewear sunglasses (in tortoise shell), vintage handbag (try this one)
I managed to duck down to Perth for a not-so-quiet weekend over Easter. I welcomed the slightly cooler and much less humid weather, and was so happy that all my neglected pairs of skinny jeans got to come out, come out to play! A different colour for each day!
My mission on Saturday was to procure myself a suitable birthday outfit, and so I hotfooted it down to the Black Beret boutique in Mount Lawley. They carry such an amazing selection of clothing from the hottest Australian designers – it was all I could do to stay focussed! Well, I admit, not only did I successfully pick out a stunning dress for my birthday (can’t wait!) but I did walk away with a little extra something-something-you-know-to-wear-to-that-wedding-in-December-yeah-that’s-right.

I managed to flit in and out of Perth last weekend whilst en route from Broome to a paediatric course in Shepparton (in rural Victoria – yes, it was indeed exceedingly painful touching down in Melbourne but not being allowed to go shopping! All mah girls say – awww…). But that’s okay! I had just 24 little hours at home but managed to fit in my sister-in-law’s birthday lunch in picturesque East Perth, a visit plus some retail therapy in my beloved CBD, and dinner with my family where my mum cooked all my favourite dishes and I ate enough to satisfy my Asian-food-quota for at least the next three months.
I’d seen some pictures of Gorman’s latest collection (she has been killing it of late!) and made her store in Enex100 my first port of call. Well, I do admit to making a couple of detours – to snap up some heavily reduced pieces of Karen Walker and have a chit-chat and a short sunglasses swap session with one of the lovely Myer girls (she had this pair, amaze!) and, as always, to run my fingers longingly through the exquisite French lace pieces by Lover in David Jones. But I did eventually make it to my final destination and with only moderate damage to the wallet sustained.
Other places on my hitlist were Miss Brown’s pop-up shop also in enex100 and who could resist a quick visit to Pigeonhole’s wildly successful (and hugely expanded!) store at one40william. Jinn was unusually in a very “yes” mood (he’s usually the voice of reason when I lapse into retail delirium), perhaps it was because he hadn’t seen me in two weeks or because he could rest assured that I’d be at least 2500 kilometres away from the nearest Gorman until April. Maybe both! But let’s just say – a highly successful day was had.
***What I’m wearing – top by Arabella Ramsay (so totally not the same but, in the spirit of detours, how badly do I want this?), shorts by Sretsis (here’s a cute top with a similar vibe), pink leather shoes by The Horse (love these), Super Duper Strength sunglasses by Karen Walker (in black), paper aeroplane necklace by The Bunny (still transportation-themed), vintage tooled leather bag from Bluebird Vintage (get a custom-made one!)
***What he’s wearing – Jimi Hendrix t-shirt by H&M (similar), sunglasses by Cheap Monday, green backpack by Herschel (similar)

I trust we all had a happy Australia Day and are still enjoying the long weekend? We decided to relive our high school/university days and spread our picnic rugs out on the soft green grass of Kings Park under the gum trees, drinking in the gorgeous view over Perth City and the Swan River, whilst chilling out to the tunes of Triple J’s Hottest 100 (did you get what you voted for?). It’s been a while since I’d done a good picnic and this day really satisfied that little hole in my life – perfect weather (okay, a wee bit hot), captivating company, great catch-ups with lots of long-time-no-sees, wicked sandwiches (yeah I made them myself!) and my Karen Walker sunnies (hah, so vain!).
So there was one tiny little downer. We’d gotten to Kings Park nice and early (around 2pm) to stake out our prime piece of grass and view over the river where the fireworks are usually shot. From memory, the fireworks are usually blasted off somewhere very near to Kings Park so that they’re almost exploding directly above you! Unbeknownst to me, their location had changed. So much so that when the fireworks began I (and the other hundreds of people gathered in excitement) realised that we were very very far away. And behind a TREE! A BIG TREE! Haha, it was actually kinda funny. So we amused ourselves with all the crazy kids running around frenetically with their glow sticks and light sabres instead!
Don’t get me wrong. This was one of my best Australia Days ever! The fireworks were really only a tiny half hour portion of an amazing day, doing one of my all-time favourite things (picnicking!) in the company of a lot of my favourite people. A huge ups to all who managed to make it – it helped make this girl a little happier about being exiled from the lovely lot of you for six months!
See what I mean about the tree?
***Thanks to Gwen for some of the pics!

Say hello to my brand new glitzy and sparkly Super Duper Strength sunglasses by Karen Walker! Ever since I got them for Christmas from my wonderful family (chosen by my oh-so-clever husband) I’ve been concocting all sorts of outfits in an attempt to incorporate these sweet sunnies into my everyday wear (do you think they’d be OTT to wear to Woolies?). Geez, I sometimes even open their box just to sit and stare at them for a bit whilst getting hypnotised by the fine gold details and the little tiny faces you can find if you look hard enough…Obsessed much?
Also debuting here today is my tiny gelato-coloured tassel bracelet, lovingly created by Rachel (my very talented and gorgeous sis-in-law!) who has her very own Etsy shop here! Each one of those perfect tassels has been artfully and meticulously created by her very hands, so you can be assured that each piece of jewellery comes with so much love attached!
***What I’m wearing – navy blue jumpsuit by Gorman, embroidered tan leather belt also by Gorman (similar), brown leather sandals by Jeffrey Campbell (some other JC lovelies!), Super Duper Strength sunglasses in gold by Karen Walker eyewear, black triangle earrings by Scrumptious (similar), pastel tassel bracelet by Freckle and Co, vintage tooled leather handbag from Bluebird Vintage (too cute!)

Summer finally decided to unleash its glorious but scorching self upon us on Christmas Day, and in full force! Christmas for me is a typically relaxed day spent with all the gorgeous people I love. The morning began with our annual ritual of present opening with my immediate family, and I have to say I scored…big time. Jinn was given the task of buying my present on behalf of the entire family and the poor thing was racking his brains so hard – I wasn’t exactly lacking in anything since only recently coming back from that very fruitful holiday in New York I keep mentioning! He’s also very bad at keeping secrets. So I thought I had it all figured out when I saw a shopping bag from one of my favourite stores (Atlas Divine in Leederville!) peeking out from under a chair when I got home one day. But honestly, nothing prepared me for the boom-bap-pow of those shiny gold Super Duper Strength sunglasses from Karen Walker’s latest Fantastique eyewear range that popped out from that unassuming little package with my name on it. All I can say is – Thank. you. I. Love. Them. And. I. LOVE. YOU. ALL. !.
What followed was a food dream filled with beautiful dishes definitely befitting the occasion (Jason served up five meats at his “little” Christmas barbecue, I certainly got my protein load for the next month or so). Thankfully there was time for a quick dip before Jason’s dinner to help get the digestive system going and burn off a few calories, and of course play with my cousin’s underwater camera! She usually uses it to photograph fish/turtles/rays/sharks when she goes scuba diving but we were more than happy to be the wildlife on this occasion. 🙂
There’s nothing quite like days like these that bring everyone together for the sole purpose of enjoying each other’s company and for sharing gifts, stories, hugs and laughs. I cherish every single moment and find that as I get older (wow, I’m not that geriatric!) they mean more and more to me.
