A quick and objective-filled weekend back in Perth. What were my objectives? Find myself an outfit worthy of my 30th birthday celebration, eat some of Mumsy’s finest home-cooked specialties, and stuff myself silly with dim sum. Tick, tick and tick!
1. My David Austen roses thriving in Jinn’s care.
2. A highly successful day at Black Beret in Mount Lawley. Not one but TWO Rachel Gilbert dresses are now in my possession! (Stay tuned for an outfit post from the day!)
3, 4, 5. Heading out for dinner on Saturday night. Not at the newly opened Jamie’s Italian though! We thought we might try our luck for a sneaky post-dinner dessert, but there were people still queuing for dinner at 9:00pm!
6, 7. Trying out the highly popular Taiwanese dessert place in Northbridge, Meet Fresh. So Asian. So good.
8, 9. My furbaby.
10, 11. Chilling with records and tea.
12, 13. Easter Monday breakfast at ours with a sleepy Gabs.

I put this outfit together, really just trying to wear as many lightweight, breezy fabrics as possible given the hot weather of late. I then realised I was pretty much fully laden with cat-themed paraphernalia – the top has tiny jaguar head studs and the Zara pants have leopards printed all over them. Even my subconscious mind betrays me – this once cat-avoider is now a cat-lover, from head to toe…Literally!
Just a wee shout out to The Bunny, the local creative behind this gorgeous studded top and the neon necklace. They will be holding a stall at the upcoming Laneway Night Markets to be held in Northbridge on Saturday January 27th and Sunday January 28th from 4pm to 10pm, so be sure to check them out!
***What I’m wearing – white jaguar studded top by The Bunny (better get to the Laneway Markets!), leopard print pants by Zara (these are pretty dang amazing), neon yellow necklace also by The Bunny, white and black bangles by CC Skye (why hello my pretties…here and here)

As usual, this week has been super busy (when has it ever not been?), especially having to sort out loads of things before the big move to Broome in February. Couple that with a full-on work roster, and suddenly it’s just two short weeks until I move. Our favourite housemate Schnooks has had a pretty big week himself. We hereby present a special edition of Bits and bobs – The Schnooks Edition!
1. My little Mr Orange. He loves a good snuggle. And we all love snuggling him!
2 +3. Even the cutest of dudes has to keep clean. I’d heard that cats often turn into little balls of fury when attempting to be bathed, so the very first time we tried this we covered ourselves from head to toe to protect us from any potential scratching. We should’ve known him better. He’s such a cool customer. He clearly doesn’t enjoy his showers, but seems to understand the necessity of it all and sits there, hunched in the corner, making a few sad mews occasionally when the water gets too cold. Then he gets released into the warm sunshine and proceeds to lick himself for hours until he’s satisfied with the result.
4. Sunny days.
5. He can’t stop playing Angry Birds Star Wars. He likes the Chewbacca bird the best.
6. Schnooks is incredibly vain. We had to run this photo by his editorial team to make sure he was happy with the angle of the lighting, the pose, the way his fur colour turned out, etc. So fussy.
7 + 8. Typical artistic nonsense. Such a poser.

Last Saturday I had the opportunity to do a photoshoot with the very talented Mr Steven Chew! Steven is a lifestyle and portrait photographer based in Perth, Western Australia (he also does a mean wedding shoot and dabbles in film, and when I say dabbles I mean rocks it!).
The photos were taken out and about our home and we only had about an hour to shoot as a sudden unexpected storm blew up (I hear there were hailstones in some areas!). Despite the approaching dark grey clouds in the horizon, we had a fun day, and the garden enjoyed its bonus watering! (Both from myself and the storm! Better be getting some mega strawberries now…)I’ll hopefully be collaborating with Steven on something a bit different in the near future (just you wait!), but in the meantime part #2 will be up next week featuring the second “costume change”. Who knew my garden could look so good? Must be a good photographer – that’s mad skillz…But Steven’s way of not only capturing the light but also the heart and story behind the person is what makes his photography stand out. Look out for more work anon!
***What I’m wearing – bird print t-shirt by Design Tshirts Store graniph (I reckon this is pretty cute) via Pigeonhole, Bambi print shorts by Sretsis (check out their amazing cherry print current collection here), cheap-o yellow sandals from the Ladies’ Market in Hong Kong (*sigh* aren’t these nice…), amazing sexy gardening gloves via Bunnings (yeah Bunnings! Seriously almost as bad as Sephora for its deceptive money-sucking abilities)
